PRIORITY: Restore Urban Cores in Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, Stamford and Elsewhere

Create Thriving Cities

Vibrant urban centers contribute positively to the economic growth of the suburbs that surround them. They can also be the nexus for industry specialization. We need to invest in transit-oriented development projects, ports and freight rail, all of which can help rejuvenate our cities while improving traffic congestion and the quality of life for our residents.

  • Engage communities and local businesses in improving public assets

  • Improve performance on quality of life benchmarks

  • Encourage new development and preserve existing affordable housing

  • Prioritize transit-oriented development to better connect workers with their jobs, reduce transportation costs, attract new businesses and spur job growth

  • Create urban business incubators and tax-free zones for urban entrepreneurs

  • Improve our Enterprise Zone Program so that it spurs greater investment in economically challenged areas

  • Support strong gun safety legislation

  • Continue to implement criminal justice reforms
